There are a lot of entries here, but not much information on display initially. The components are the major software modules within Windows 98, such as the audio and video sub-systems, CD-ROM driver, printing sub-system and so on. Most items just list version information, which may be useful when dealing with a support engineer, but need no attention in the ordinary course of events.

One item worth a visit, however, is Problem Devices where System Information may alert you to malfunctioning components.

Elsewhere, use the items to see if Windows 98 thinks a troublesome device is working properly, and also to see a history of device driver changes over time.
